A coaching centre in Mukherjee Nagar gets found on Google Maps when its listing has the right category ("Coaching center"), the exact name on its board, the correct floor and building in the address, a map pin on the right building, and recent photos of the entrance and classrooms. On top of that it needs every course listed as a service, honest reviews from real students, and batch timings that match reality. Most centres here get one or two of these wrong, and students simply call the next listing.

Below is a practical guide for coaching institutes, libraries and test-series centres in Mukherjee Nagar and the nearby North Delhi coaching belt.

How students actually search

A student who has just moved to Delhi does not type your institute's name. They type things like:

  • "UPSC coaching near me"
  • "SSC coaching Mukherjee Nagar"
  • "CSAT classes near Batra Cinema"
  • "library near me" or "self study library Mukherjee Nagar"

Google answers these with a map and three listings at the top. Which three it shows depends on three things: how relevant your listing is to the search, how close you are to the student, and how well known your centre is (reviews, mentions across the web). You cannot change your distance. The other two are in your hands.

1. Pick the right category

The main category tells Google what you are. For most institutes the closest match is "Coaching center". Libraries and reading rooms should look for a library or study-space category instead of calling themselves a coaching centre.

Start typing in the category box and see what Google suggests. Add a second category only if it is genuinely part of what you do, for example a tutoring service for school students. A wrong main category is one of the most common reasons a centre never shows up. More on choosing it here.

2. Use the name on your board, nothing more

"Best UPSC Coaching in Delhi - XYZ Academy" is not a name. It is keyword stuffing, it breaks Google's rules, and listings get suspended for it. Competitors in a crowded market like Mukherjee Nagar do report each other.

Use exactly what is written on your board and your fee receipts. Put your courses in the description and services instead.

3. Get the address and the pin right

Most centres here sit on the second or third floor of a commercial building, often with several institutes in the same block. Students get lost, and so does Google.

  • Write the floor and building name in the address, the way it appears on your rent agreement or electricity bill.
  • Move the map pin yourself onto your building. Do not leave it on the main road or on the building next door.
  • In the description, add one line on how to reach you: which gate, which staircase, which landmark.

The address must match your documents, because Google may ask for video verification and checks them. The full method is in this guide.

4. List every course as a service

The services section is where your keywords belong, and most centres leave it empty. Add each course separately:

  • UPSC GS Foundation
  • CSAT
  • Optional subjects you teach
  • SSC CGL, Bank PO or state exams
  • Test series and answer-writing programmes

Write one or two lines for each: batch length, medium (Hindi or English), online or offline. When a student searches "CSAT classes", a listing that actually says CSAT has a better chance.

5. Photos students want to see

Students and their parents decide a lot from photos. Upload:

  • The entrance and board, so they recognise the building when they arrive
  • Classrooms with real seating, lights and AC
  • The library or reading room, if you have one
  • Faculty, only with their permission

Skip stock photos and ten-year-old pictures. Add new ones every month, especially when a new batch starts. Our photos guide has the full list.

6. Reviews from real students

Coaching is a high-trust decision, so reviews carry a lot of weight. Ask at natural moments: after a good mock test result, at the end of a module, or when a student clears a stage. Send the review link on the batch WhatsApp group or to individual students.

Never buy reviews or ask staff to post them. Google removes them, and repeated fake reviews can get a listing restricted. Reply to every review, including the angry one about the AC or the fee refund. A calm, specific reply reassures the next student who reads it. Here is how to grow reviews the honest way.

7. Be careful with result claims

Many coaching ads in this area are built on topper photos and selection numbers. In 2024 the Central Consumer Protection Authority issued guidelines against misleading advertising in the coaching sector, covering claims about toppers, ranks and selection numbers that are not backed by facts. Keep your listing, posts and photos to claims you can prove.

8. Keep timings and posts current

  • Set your real hours, including early morning and late evening batches.
  • Use special hours for festivals and exam days, so students do not find you shut when Google says "Open".
  • Use Google posts for new batch dates, free demo classes and test series launches. A listing with a post from this week looks alive. One from last year looks closed.

Same name everywhere

Students also check Justdial, Instagram, YouTube and coaching directories. If your name, address and phone number are different on each one, Google trusts your listing less, and students wonder whether it is the same place. Pick one version and use it everywhere. Frequently asked questions

We have two branches in the same area. Do we need two listings?

Yes, if each branch has its own entrance, its own staff during working hours and its own address. Two listings for the same room or the same building entrance is against Google's rules.

Should a library or PG make its own listing?

Yes, as long as it is a real place that students visit. Use the correct category for it, not "Coaching center".

Our online classes have no address. Can we still be on Google Maps?

A listing needs either a place that students visit or a service area where you go to customers. A purely online course usually does better with a website, YouTube and a good Google listing for the office, if you have one that students can visit.

How long before we start showing up?

Fixes like category, services and photos usually show within a few days. Moving up in the map results takes longer and depends on reviews and how complete your listing is compared to the centres around you.
